Pinnacle Hill, Black Hill and Worcestershire Beacon Site Rules

1. The Malvern Hills are used by 1.25 million people each year so it is important that, at all times, pilots do their utmost to avoid risk to the public.

2. All pilots MUST be BHPA members or foreign equivalent with comparable third party insurance.

3. All pilots must be at least CP + 15 hours.

4. All pilots must have completed the Helmet Sticker form and sent it to the MHGC together with a 5 registration fee. The sticker provided in return must be displayed on the pilot's helmet.

5. The Malvern Hills are in an area of intense military low flying: pilots flying midweek must notify Military Air Traffic on 0800 515544 , preferably on the previous day before 9pm. Quote them the grid ref SO767406 or site ref 4.002.

6. Paragliders in ridge lift must not fly further north than the Worcestershire Beacon, due to the danger of conflict with radio controlled models flown from North Hill and Table Hill. (the only exception is covered in the site guide)

7. No landings are permitted along the top of the ridge. Landing on the side of the hill is permitted, but landings must be made well clear of all other hill users.

8. No landings or takeoffs are permitted on the Herefordshire Beacon (also known as the British Camp). No landings or takeoffs are permitted north of the Wyche Cutting, unless authorised.

9. There is no explicit ban on flying the hills during the lambing season. However, pilots should avoid landing near any sheep, especially between December and March.

10. Take-off segregation, Pinnacle Hill: for the East side take off, Paragliders should use the area to the north of the saddle (i.e. Pinnacle Hill/"Kettle Sings") and Hang gliders should use the area to the south of the saddle, unless conditions dictate otherwise.

11. Worcestershire Beacon.
Only Pilots who are FULLY PAID UP ANNUAL MEMBERS of Malvern Hang-gliding Club and have a helmet sticker are authorised to take off from or land on the Worcestershire Beacon. Pilots must notify the nominated committee member (currently Bryan Hindle) of all flights with takeoffs or landings in this area.
No other takeoffs or landings are permitted north of the Wyche Cutting.

12. LANDING AREAS
The ONLY bottom landing fields that may be used are those described in the Site Guides (for Pinnacle Hill and Black Hill, click here. For Worcestershire Beacon, click here.) IT IS MOST IMPORTANT THAT THIS RULE AND THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE SITE GUIDES ARE OBSERVED - IF WE WERE UNABLE TO CONTINUE USING THESE FIELDS, THESE SITES WOULD BE UNFLYABLE.

13. All pilots must display a valid Pay and Display ticket if they use the car parks. This is a Conservators byelaw and cars are checked by wardens. The fees collected are used to maintain the hills, e.g. for tree clearance.

If you agree to observe these rules then Apply on line using PayPal. A PayPal account is not needed

OR you may Download the Helmet sticker form here. and send it by post.
