Members' Mailing List

This is a system which allows Malvern members to email the entire club through one email address. Members can choose what sort of email they receive by using a filter. The strength of the filter is specified using ‘Levels’



Received Level.


Level 0

This is the highest filter that can be set. You cannot unsubscribe completely.

Only committee members can send on this level. It will only

be used to send announcements for AGM's Xmas meal etc..

You probably won't get more than 12 a year

You will not be able to use the "Reply" button on these emails.

Level 1

The above and important stuff about:

  • Sites

  • Air space

  • BHPA

  • Our Club

  • Safety issues

Level 2

All the above and things to do with flying:

  • Saying where you are going

  • Asking where to go

  • Is the weather right

  • Organizing club trips

  • Flying reports

Level 3

All the above

and Chat



Each member will only be able to change their received level on the Club database in the field "Your content threshold of the mail-list:0 1 2 or 3"

For the system to work when sending mail everyone will have to decide what level to send it at by entering ^1 or ^2 at the beginning of the subject line. There will be no need to put ^3 as nothing will default to 3.

Please remember to start a new thread if your reply is going to stray significantly from the level.

^ is found on the number 6 key on a UK keyboard, by the way, and is used so the mail system can spot the levels. Don't get to worried about getting it wrong, the worst that will happen is that you will get a polite email pointing out your error.

When you first join you will be put on level 1 so if you want to be on a different level go to the data base and don't forget to click the "submit change" for every field that you alter.
